The Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC), in collaboration with the Nigerian Energy Support Programme (NESP) co-funded by the European Union and the German Government, invites the general public to a webinar titled "Workshop for Minigrid Projects on Distribution Usage Fee"
The workshop seeks to expose investors and other interested stakeholders to the Mini-grid Distribution Usage Fee Computation Tool, a methodology for determining the rates payable to a DisCo for using its distribution assets for minigrid operation.
In line with Section 70(8) of EPSRA and its effort to enhance the private sector-led expansion of electricity access, the Commission issued the Mini-Grid Regulations effective 24th May 2017. The Regulations seek to accelerate electrification in areas currently unserved and underserved by distribution companies, by attracting the participation of the private sector, community-based organisations, government and non-governmental organisations in nationwide electrification. The Regulation, which focus on systems with generation capacities of not more than 1MW, provides for simplified Distribution usage charge calculation methodology to facilitate the negotiation process between DisCos and interested developers. It also provides for simplified and transparent approach to the determination of tariffs payable by the mini-grid customers.
Webinar is scheduled as follows:
Date: August 14th, 2020
Due to limited space, the participation is subject to registration (maximum of 2 participants per organisation) and will be on a first-come, first-serve basis.
