The Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC), in collaboration with the Nigerian Energy Support Programme (NESP) co-funded by the European Union and the German Government, wishes to invite you to an investors workshop on Mini-Grids holding on the 7th November 2019. The workshop seeks to expose investors and other interested stakeholders to the Mini-grid Application Tool, a digital platform for the Mini-grid registration, Permit application, and Tariff computation. In line with Section 70(8) of EPSRA and its effort to enhance the private sector-led expansion of electricity access, the Commission issued the Mini-Grid Regulations effective 24th May 2017. The Regulations seek to accelerate electrification in areas currently unserved and underserved by distribution companies, by attracting the participation of the private sector, community-based organisations, government and non-governmental organisations in nationwide electrification. The Regulations, which focus on systems with generation capacities not more than 1MW, provides for simplified permit and tariff approval procedures to ease the administrative burden on the Mini-Grid Operators and ensure timeliness in the process of obtaining Permits. It also provides for a fair compensation mechanism for stranded Mini-grid investments where applicable.
The workshop is scheduled as follows:
Venue: Transcorp Hilton Abuja, 1 Aguiyi Ironsi Street, Wuse 2
Date: November 7, 2019
Potential and existing Mini-Grid investors and other stakeholders interested in attending the workshop are to register by Clicking HERE before the 5th November 2019. Due to limited space, the participation is subject to registration and will be on a first-come, first-serve basis.
