The Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission in furtherance of its mandate to ensure fairness in addressing the very contentious issue of billing estimation for unmetered customers has come up with a metering intervention called the Meter Asset Provider Regulation.
This regulation which is geared towards encouraging the development of independent and competitive meter services, eliminating estimated billing practices, attracting private investment to the provision of metering services and enhancing revenue assurance in the Nigerian Electricity Supply Industry (NESI); will also ensure the closure of the current metering gap through accelerated meter roll.
In view of the importance of this regulation in resolving most of electricity customers’ complaints, the Commission has deemed it very imperative that customers are enlightened on their rights and obligations under this new regulation, as well as the modalities for seeking redress in cases of service failure.
Consequently, the Commission hereby notifies all customers of Ibadan Distribution Company, that there will be a town hall meeting organised by the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission, the Regulator of the Nigerian Electricity Supply Industry; in conjunction with the MacArthur Foundation.
