Notice of Public Consultation on Capping of Estimated Billing, and Distribution Franchising regulations

The Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission is to conduct public consultations on 2 of its regulations as part of its mandate to ensure the quality of service delivery and increase access to the electricity supply. The proposed regulations are:

1.    Capping of estimated billing;

2.    Distribution Franchising;

These public consultations which will hold in Lagos and 12 other venues across the country will enable the Commission to get inputs from the stakeholders and the general public on these regulations. For example, the proposed capping of the estimated billing regulation is aimed at incentivizing metering of electricity customers, while discouraging estimated billing.
