Adeyemi Akisanya is an Oil & Gas lawyer with forty years of tested experience in Oil & Gas domestic and international transactions, projects, and financing, including a vast network in the private and public sectors of the industry.

‘Yemi Akisanya obtained the LL.B, with honours, from the University of Lagos, Nigeria in July 1976; and an LL.M, in September 1979, from the London School of Economics and Political Science, UK. He was called to the Bar in July 1977, as a Solicitor and Advocate of the Supreme Court of Nigeria and enrolled as a Notary Public of the Federal Republic by the instrument of the Supreme Court of Nigeria, as of May 22, 2014.

After brief stints with the Oyo State (of Nigeria) Ministry of Justice, (1977-1978 - NYSC); the law firm of Odujinrin and Adefulu, in Lagos, Nigeria, (1979-1980); and the law firm of Sullivan and Cromwell, in New York, USA, (1980-1981 – Foreign Associates Program); he joined the Office of General Counsel of Mobil Producing Nigeria Unlimited (“MPNU”), ExxonMobil’s Nigerian operating subsidiary, in 1981.

He took an elective early retirement from MPNU in March 2002, after over twenty-one years of service in various capacities, including Senior Counsel, International Transactions Counsel, Company Secretary and Acting General Counsel.

He is currently a Notary Public and in a private law practice as the Principal of Adeyemi-Akisanya Associates, a boutique law firm of Attorneys, Mediators and Legal Advisors, with specialized expertise, inter alia, in Dispute and Conflict Resolution Advisory; and General Corporate Commercial Transactions and Advisory with a strong but non-exclusive focus in the Energy and Extractive Industries (Oil, Gas, Mines, and Electricity & Power).

Yemi Akisanya is an astute Dispute Resolution Specialist, Conflict Resolution & Management Expert and consultant, a skilled Mediation Advocate and Negotiator, as well as a Mediation Advocacy Trainer.
Apart from the NERC Dispute Resolution Panel, he is also on the Panel of Neutrals of the Lagos Multi Door Court House (“LMDC”); the Panel of Neutrals of the Lagos Court of Arbitration (“LCA”); the Panel of Neutrals of the Lagos Chamber of Commerce International Arbitration Centre (“LACIAC”); and the Panel of Neutrals of the Federal High Court, Abuja ADR Centre, (“FHC ADR Centre”).

He has mediated well over one hundred and twenty disputes where the subject matter has ranged respectively from corporate commercial transactions and business relationships in various business sectors, through Energy (Oil & Gas), community relations, land acquisitions and title disputes, to public policy conflict resolution as well as Government Relations.
‘Yemi is a regular speaker, trainer, and facilitator at conferences, seminars, webinars, and workshops in the application of ADR (non-adversarial) solutions to conflicts and disputes in the areas previously mentioned.
